| 38629 | 2002-03-10 22:18:00 | Hi All Has anyone in this forum installed a laptop HDD into a PC.I have tried and cannot get the Bios to see the drive. I have tried Auto Detect and user but to no avail. Are there any other settings that have to be changed so that it can be seen. The auto detect works on normal HDDs. The led lights showing so it appears that power is getting to the HDD.I have tried Two different HDDs with the same result. Thanks Ian |

The old trick: check that pin 1 of the connector on the MB goes to pin 1 on the drive. If there is a twist in the cable, the drive is always selected, but all the data lines are earthed too. |
