38765 2002-03-11 11:38:00 Sniff...

I tried installing mandrake 8.1 over my old 8.0, since then it been less stable than WinME.

Lilo gives me various options including 'old-Linux', which does the same thing as 'new-linux'. I've tried re-installing 8.0 using the old disk, but it just falls over itself at the same point in the install everytime.

I have stuck all my important data elsewhere, but is there a better way than just kicking it's ass, and sticking it back on again?

:)

Well, Erin, I think you've done pretty well at getting a stable OS running. Well done. I wish all my OSs would run as well and as 'stable' as my Win ME did.

38767 2002-03-11 20:57:00 I did the same thing and THEN I read the reccomendation not to upgrade over 8.0

I erased that partition and installed 8.1 clean - from then it's been as stable as a tank.

38768 2002-03-12 03:23:00 That's right.'Upgrading' is STRONGLY discouraged. There are reasons.

RTFM ... No sympathy. So there.
