38746 2002-03-11 09:52:00 PC does not boot. Screen shows pattern with 'Burn-in Test'

PC is 5 yrs old, P133 processor, Octec motherboard.

What could be the problem?

38747 2002-03-11 19:49:00 I am just guessing, but this sounds like it has had a setting change in BIOS or on the motherboard to just sit there doing the 'burn in test'.

Have you changed something in BIOS recently? Can you get into the BIOS to check it out?

robo.

38748 2002-03-11 21:53:00 This may be a quick solution.

If you have the motherboard manual. Take all the precautions and follow the diagram and move the bios/cmos reset jumper to the other pins fro at least 5 seconds and then back again.

Then tr booting again.

38749 2002-03-12 04:10:00 If it is running a 'burn in test' it must have booted. Try Ctrl/C repeatedly after it says 'Booting MSDOS'. The answer 'Y' when it askes if you want to stop a batch file.

The culprit will be AUTOEXEC.BAT running a test programme. You might be able to renamle that AUTOEXEC.BAM

You probably haven't got Windows installed. (It might be there in a WIN95 or something ready for setup).
