38663 2002-03-11 02:05:00 Hey guys I have an ASUS Mb and i recently purchased a celeron 900 chip, the thing is that the actual board itself does not handle up to that speed. I heard on the grape vine that you can get an update for your bioss and that will be able to get the 900 cranking, also this board only allows for PC100 Ram and I have a 256 PC133 stick at home does updating the bioss do anything toward what type of Ram you an use in the puter. Any ideas? Guest (0)

38665 2002-03-11 07:47:00 I had Asus P3B-F motherboard and the bios is up to date. I had tried PC-133 256MB SDRAM ( Single-Side-Chip) on it and it will not work. I don't had double-side-chip 256MB SDRAM, SO i had no idea whether it will work or not, but i do know that PC-133 128MB SDRAM (Single-Side-Chip) will work on it. I do not think it will support upto Celeron 900 MHZ although i had ever tried it before. Well, if I were you, then i will go for PIII-700 MHz as i am sure that PIII-700 will had better performance than Celeron 900 MHz but i think you might had go for second hand CPU. I don't think you can get any new PIII-700 MHz CPU now!
