38849 2002-03-12 05:21:00 As the previous respondent said, there are many programs that manage screensavers and wallpapers, and most graphics apps have a built in convertor. As you're talking about static jpg and bmp images I assume you're referring to wallpapers - if not ignore the following...

There are a few ways to do it - easiest is (assuming you're running Win 9.x - may work for other Win versions) right-click on an empty spot on your desktop, click Properties, Background, then under Wallpaper click on Browse, then simply browse to the bmp image you want.

Alternatively open Windows Explorer, and copy or move any bmp image into your Windows directory. That will enable the image to appear in the drop down list in Properties, Background above.

Even Netscape does it for you - go File, Open Page, Choose File, then in the Files of Type box, change it to show All Files, then browse to the image - jpg, gif or bmp, it doesn't matter. Highlight the file you want, click Open, click Open again, right click over the image, then choose Set As Wallpaper. This will convert the image into a bmp and hey presto, it's now your wallpaper.

Unfortunately I don't know of any way to make a jpg into a wallpaper apart from converting it, as Windows appears to only recognise bmp's. If your desired image is smaller than you'd like, use a good image editor to enlarge it to the dimensions of your monitor.
