| 38781 | 2002-03-11 20:21:00 | Help! My sister's computer has gone belly up! Everytime she turns it on it starts in Start up Menu where you have to choose whether to start on Safe or Normal. Starting on either gives her a screen which has mottled colours and refuses access to heaps of programs including e-mail. Have checked settings, done disk scan, frag'd, diag. No luck. All say O.K. Tried to restore but couldn't get past disk insertion. It's a Compaq Presario, Windows 98, 2nd ed. Help! I'm stuck! |

Start the computer with it in the floppy drive, then when it's fully loaded follow the on-screen help instructions to restore the system files. (You'll be given an option how to start - choose the option with CD support). If she doesn't have a boot disc, find someone else that has Win98 - they should have one or can make one for you. |
