After my computer has been running for more than 6 or so hours when I try to connect to the internet I get an error message saying 'modem not found'. If I reboot there is no problem. I switch off each day so it isn't a problem for the first few hours and I would connect once every hour or so. I'm running IE6 and Win98 on a AM2-500 machine with 128MB RAM and a KTX 56K USB modem. Any help greatly appreciated. Yes I have reinstalled WIN 98, IE6 and the modem drivers! |

This may sound too simple but have you tried unplugging and then replugging in the USB modem? |

Try updating your modem drivers, the early winmodem drivers were quite buggy. |

I have a Dynalink int. modem and had a similar problem in its earlier days. I rang Dynalink support and was given an accessory command to enter - can't remember offhand where it goes but someone else will probably post the answer to that. That fixed the problem. The command string may be different for your modem but I should be able to track mine down if you want to try it. |

I probably went in at: Start\Settings\Control Panel \Modems\Properties\Connection\Advanced\Extra Settings |
