| 38821 | 2002-03-11 23:27:00 | Thanks to all who have offered advice so far on my previous post. To refresh the details, my HP6L seems to have jumped into economode (poor quality and faint printing) but none of the 'print quality' features appear in print setup or properties. It is running in Win98 as an HP6L (PCL) because the normal installation conflicts with either my inkjet or another software file. I can't remember which but back then HP told me how to install. I am still unable to access economode to see if it is even switched on, and after searching the Web extensively plus HP's website I am even more confused. The only similar situation I could find was an almost identical problem posted on a help forum in 1999 that went unanswered! Can anybody provide an email contact address so that I can lodge a help request? Any other advice would be welcome as well. Thanks, Alex |

That might be wirth a try ... can't make it worse. (www.filelibrary.com:8080/cgi-bin/freedownload/DOS/j/102/econmode.zip). There is a file called 'LJ821uk.exe' which is said to be a 'set of utilities for LJ6'. (I didn't write the URL down ... search Google on that name will give it). |

Unfortunately the DOS program doesn't work, it starts & finishes instantly, leaving the DOS window open, and I can't enter a command line. The other reference is more promising but the URL was simply a catalogue of files on a CD, not the files themselves. I guess I'll have to try and get an answer from HP by telephone. Thanks again.
