38793 2002-03-11 22:17:00 does anyone have theinside scoop on whats happening to paradise.net at the mo. outage last night'ADSL customers in Auckland may be unable to connect due to a problem with Telecom's network at Papatoetoe. Telecom are aware of the problem and are working to resolve it.'(from their web pagee this morning) but for some reason its also afeecting us up north with dail up. it appears telecoms ipnet is to blame. can't get through to the help desk which is unusal....they must be real busy.

for the last few weeks its been busy signals, cant log in(email as well as dailup) and dissconnections.

anyone know if its a paradise problem or is it just telecom fluffing about?

38794 2002-03-11 22:39:00 If you are using dial up try a different access number.
Here in wellington i was using IP net 087307272,and i was having problems connecting.
I changed my dial in access number to 086727234 and have had no problems since.Hope this helps.

38797 2002-03-12 02:52:00 Ha Ha Ha.. After being on cable/paradise for about a year i have great pity on those of you forced to be on dialup or any other service that involves telecom. Good luck to you, and let me assure you, that as soon as telecom is bypassed, non connection issues are bypassed with it! Guest (0)
38798 2002-03-12 05:56:00 Hi,

I could write enough about telecom to crash this entire forum, however, allow me to say that one can be pretty sure that ipnet is to blame...

I've had some fairly serious problems with my dial-up not connecting properly, or not connecting at all. But the big giveaway that ipnet is behind it is that it regularly tells me that the password is incorrect. The password is fine, and if I try again in a minute it connects perfectly.

As for the help desk, they normally take about 2 mins to get through to, and if you wait more than 10mins, you're just going to be redirected to the national mental unit after about another 10 minutes... That means they've got a problem...

38799 2002-03-13 09:36:00 Getting back to the subject-
I've had a lot of 'Unable to Establish a Connection' (dailup)over the last 2-3 weeks. A quick push on 'Cancel' and 'Connect' always connects the second time.

38800 2002-03-13 10:08:00 Peter, you on paradise?

One of my friends on xtra has been having similar problems, though not to the extent I've had...

Another reason to point the finger at least partly at someone otehr than paradise...

Terry! What I would give to just charge of into the wilderness at half an hours notice... That's always the best way to do things ; Spontaneous...

Try this one on for size, I've got the opportunity to go to either the Andes or the Himalaya in the July holidays...

Out of those two places, what do you think would be the ultimate mountain to ascend? I've got my eye on a 5215m Beast at about 3 degrees north in the Andes, or a 4982m one in Himachal pradesh, in northern India. Anywhere else awesome?

Back to the internet connections...uh yeah.

Mine bombed this evening too, I was trying out a new P120mhz which I got to get some experience with SCSI (it's got 4 drives so far, all going well), and it took three attempts to connect, each time disconnecting about 2 seconds before it would usually connect. This is what I typically get when it fails.

*Sneeze* I've got a cold, I think I'll hit the sack...

:)
