2002-03-14 06:00:00 | Im running Norton Disk Doctor, and I continue to receive this message'NDD has restarted 10 times because Windows or another programme has been writing to this drive. Quitting some running programmes may enable NDD to finish sooner' I am obviously unable to run NDD and have no idea how to quit running programs... Thanks Louise

Same applies to Scandisk and Defrag. You could use the clt.alt.dlt option to open the system box and remove one by one the various programs running keeping just systray and explorer but you still end up rebooting afterwards anyway to restore those programs afterwards |

2002-03-14 06:37:00 | If your running Windows 95/98 press alt ctrl delete form there close everything but systray and explorer by clicing the programs and clicking end task. Once they are the only two on the list. Run disk DR...Bingo. Or do what the previous guy said. | Guest (0) | |
2002-03-14 07:13:00 | If you hold down the Shift key while Win 95 (and presumably later versions) is loading it blocks the loading of everything in your Startup folder. This would not cover anything that is loaded from autoexec.bat. For how to find out everything that is running go to 'How can I see EVERYTHING ...', a post by Chris Wilson on this page for 12/3 - lots of info there.

2002-03-14 09:06:00 | the catch22 with booting to safe mode is that some norton uilities will not work in safe mode. a comman cause for this sort of problem is the swapfile resizeing. increase the minium swapfile size. also closeing down any other programs will help.
