| 39287 | 2002-03-16 06:26:00 | Hi stu I recently bought a compaq laptop. I sold my desktop, but before I did I removed my 16x CDR. I then bought a converter kit from Dick Smith that turned it into an external USB. This is one option you could use and gives you more choice of drives. There are other external USB drives out there and some firewire and PCMCIA ones but they are expensive. But remember although my one is 16 x it now runs at 4x as that is all USB will allow. Also Easy CD creator has trouble with some USB drives. That is why I use Nero which is much better. |

| 39288 | 2002-03-16 08:44:00 | thanks geoff w a sales rep at bond n bond recones that compaq will not saport a external cd-rw and i'll have to get one that already has internal cd-rw i think he might be telling porkes to try to getto up grade |
