39241 2002-03-15 03:06:00 Refer to postings further down from Leeanne Egan on 12/3/02 and timed at 13:45:08.

Leanne was able to elicit 8 replies to exactly the sme request. Are you both doing the same assignment?

Bryan.

39242 2002-03-15 04:14:00 A piece of Computer History.

THE EARLY AMERICAN COMPUTERS USED UPPER CASE FOR EVERYTHING. THIS IS BECAUSE THE TELETYPE ASR33 HAD ONLY UPPERCASE. IBM'S 'BCD' CARD PUNCHES WERE THE SAME.

some of the early english computers used lower case because they used flexiwriters with 5 level paper tape. they deliberately selected the lower case because it is easier to read. (Key words were emphasized by underlining).

These days, and 8 bit ASCII (or even EBSDIC) coding, we use both upper and lower case. This is much more legible.

This is a hint, as well as real piece of history.
