39332 2002-03-15 23:39:00 For playing unreal you'll want a ball mouse...

The optical ones jerk if you move them too ast, and if you're any good at unreal, you'll be moving really fast!

I've got a Genius Netscroll Mouse, for which I can speak with confidence. It is an excellent mouse, and it on;y costs $10.

I'd be wary of mice with a scroll wheel that is difficult to turn, such as M$'s standard PS2 Scroll Mouse, which you almost need both hands for. By comparison, the wheel in the netscroll mouse is awesome!

I use it for unreal, and it has never let me down, just clean it out once a month or so, and that's not hard because you can easily take the top off it.

As for Modems, Dynalink are without a doubt the way to go if you don't mind paying 50% extra. Lucent are incredibly good value for money though, and you'd only be suffering perhaps at most two drop-outs per year that you wouldn't get with a dynalink one...

If you really want the best modem, get an external USR modem. They are in the $150+ bracket, but I'm still using my old 33.6K USR, because it's faster than my 56K internal Motorola (a brand to avoid obviously!)

Hope that helps!

39334 2002-03-16 12:55:00 Dynalink for modems are wonderful - fantastic after-sales support locally as well. PCI or USB are great for steady phone line/ISP connections, and their ISA models excellent where they're not so great.

USR by reputation are good too.
