39423 2002-03-16 08:27:00 I run a small network comprising 1 athlon 1200 running win98 which is used as a workstation/server for our accounting software 1 P3 733 running win2000 and various slower machines running win98/95. I have noticed a huge time lag difference when setting the slower win2000 machine as the server, the other machines access the data in a little over half the time it takes compared to the faster win98 machine. Is this a function of win2000 or are there some settings to be changed to make things run faster between machines? What is the best protocol to use I have done quite a bit of research but there never seems to a clear guide? finally I have not set up a domain as part of the network is this necessary/advisable or uneccessary in small network where all pc's are on the same lan Guest (0)
