What is the difference between doing a full scan using accessories - system tools procedure and doing a surface scan using 'command prompt only' at start up. If they both achieve the same result is one method more preferable than the other ? |

Scandisk can be done in two options, you can scan just the basic files and folders and have any error found fixed straight away, or have the scan give you a message first to say what they found wrong and then choose to fix if possible. A full scan takes a little bit longer and it scans your boot files etc, and is more effective. |

Thanks Yvonne. Iknow you can have the two options, the shorter files and folders and the full scan but what I really would like to know is whether the surface scan using the 'Command Prompt Only ' during boot up does anything different or is in any way better than using the usual method from Accessories |
