39555 2002-03-18 02:21:00 WindowsME, p2/350, 256ram, nero 5.5.1.8 plus nero Incd 3.23.0., the writer is a Philips

problem is trying to format the cdrw, no option is given for what sort of format I want and when I do try and format the cdrw, the same error message after 30 seconds, Illegial Request, please restart and insert new disk.
I have tried closing all applications, no joy, I was playing around with some cheapie cdrw's, tried instead a couple of brand new cdrw's, no joy, I have emailed nero after searching there on line help but to date they have not replied. The nero help site did confirm though that my CD writer is supported. I tried upgrading to the latest incd version which is 3.23 but still luck. Have checked device manager, no problems reported.
Nero itself still works fine, just the incd option.

What might I be missing in this game of cat and mouse. Any idea's anyone.

39556 2002-03-18 03:57:00 Do you have on your task bar, a disc with a red arrow pointing down? This should change to a green arrow pointing up if incd is properly installed and a r/w disc is inserted. Guest (0)
39557 2002-03-18 04:29:00 Yes, I do have the green ball and red arrow on the task bar, problem is, both the options for which sort of format you want done are greyed out and does not matter what sort of disk I use, at exactly 30seconds, it ejects the CD with the message illegial request.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled it as well, makes no difference.

39558 2002-03-18 21:20:00 You're not trying to use high speed RW - 8X+ - disks in a 4X RW drive are you? Guest (0)
39559 2002-03-19 03:01:00 You have given me a idea there, during set up I did see a option for setting the max speed on a CD but cannot recall what it was, I cannot find it now. You know where it is to change it.
In regards to the disks themselves I have tried several from older x2 disks upto faster ones.

39560 2002-08-17 03:31:00 I have the same problem. Have you been able to resolve it?
Marty.

39561 2002-08-17 22:42:00 I am experiencing a similar fault:
I keep getting the following error after about 35 seconds while trying to format a CD-RW using Ahead's (Nero) InCD version 3.3.1:-
"Error Code (0051-0005-0064-0000)
Illegal Request error occurred
Reboot your system or drive and try again.
Insert a new disc."
My system is as follows:-
Windows 98 SE
Burner:- HP CD-Writer Plus 8100i (Firmware 1.0g) (latest version)
Software:- Nero 5.590 and InCD 3.310 (both latest versions)

I have removed Adaptec's CD Burning plugin from Windows Media player 7.01)
After several removal and reloads of the software I am now at a loss for what to do next.
I've tried checking Ahead's web site for help but again have not found a solution.
If anyone can resolve my problem I would be most grateful.
Thanks Marty.

39562 2002-08-17 23:39:00 I used to have HP 8100i CD-RW, and I also experienced the same problem with Nero In-CD (both new and old versions), I couldn't find a solution to this problem so I thought it must be a program bug in InCD. (Adaptec Eazy-CD works fine informatting CD-RW before I uninstalled it and made way for Nero.) At the end, I replaced the whole drive with a new one -- a Ricoh CD-RW, now the problem is gone. Woo-hoo! This is a $300 solution, but it works!! wraith (394)

Thanks for your reply.
I might try removing Nero and InCD completely and going back to Adaptec's ECD creator.
Your $300 solution is another avenue, but one would think these software producers such as Nero could create better help links on their web sites for resolving such problems. Surely others have experienced a similar error.

39564 2002-08-19 01:51:00 Have you tried updating it from Nero's website:
www.ahead.de???
Download the latest, i think it's at 5.5.9.0 by now?

That might resolve some burner issues!?
