If you got to this web site www.slipstick.com it address this issue and how to get around it. One option it doesn't give but you can try is to zip files up before sending them. Ian |

Because of various incompatibilities (both forward and backward) between the various iterations of MS Word I send all email documents as *.RTF files and I never have a problem or complaints from recipients. RTF files will open in just about ant WP program, no matter what the vintage. To do this, click 'save as' and select RTF or 'rich text' format. I save all of these files in a separate 'Email Docs' folder as they are usually redundant files after a week or so and deltes the folder contents once a month or so. (You still have your original in doc format in its original folder) Cheers Billy 8-{) |

A classic one is MS Outlook which has its own rich text format, and file attachments are embedded in the document message. If the recipient has MS Outlook they can open the attachment, but if they don't, they can't. The only way round this is for the sender to change their email message format from rich text to text or plain text. Once that is done, any file attachments are sent as a separate attachment to the message (and sent at the same time as the message) and the recipient can open the attachment. |
