39545 2002-03-17 22:57:00 I have Norton's Antivirus 2001 with 150 days to run- I am getting a warning' auto update now expired' - why?
AND why does my e mail have to be re-checked into 'protected' each time I start my computer?
It's O K during use but it used to be permanently set to 'protect'- now I can't find the button to set this.

39546 2002-03-18 00:15:00 sounds like nortons is going a little awol :(

might be a good idea to uninstall, delete all nortons files (including those that hide in the windows folder) and clean out the reg entries with a reg cleaner. then reinstall and update.

also don't use the email protect(strange but true) as its a little tempermental at times and the auto protect will still protect you.

or try www.downseek.com and search for norton.

The antivirus updates can be downloaded manually with usually no fuss. :)

39548 2002-03-18 13:08:00 You say 'also don't use the email protect(strange but true)' By this do you mean both the incoming and outgoing functions in Norton 2002 as well; if so what happens when a virus hits the machine, does the auto protect tell you?

Cheers ( I should also add that I like reading your postings, most informative)

39549 2002-03-18 21:46:00 Bingo! Thanks tweak'e- I raced into the city - bought a Norton's 2002 and everything that has gone wrong of late - ie erratic cursor, no vetting e mail until it was manually set up each start up, 'no automatic update' etc etc - all gone - the Norton's 2001 in it's death throes must have been violating everything. May you live long and die oblong as the saying goes Guest (0)
