| 39800 | 2002-03-19 23:14:00 | Continuing on from my previous two posts, I reloaded the HP6L (PCL) drivers and this restored access to the economode function. It was set to default (no indication of whether this is on or off) so I set it to off but this made no difference to the print quality. Printing appears almost normal apart from the lack of density in fine detail that makes the tails of commas disappear and angled lines as in the tails of y's very thin. The printer test page looks reasonable with good density on large fonts and half-tones but again anything thin becomes very faint. I use good quality Laser paper but it doesn't seem to matter what I use, the results stay the same. Setting economode to On produced printing so faint that it could hardly be read so I guess this confirms that my printer is the cause rather than the settings, but what do I clean or adjust to get the print density back? Removing the toner cartridge only reveals the foam roller that I understand shouldn't be touched so where to from here? Is there a charged wire that I can access & clean as in photocopiers? Thanks, Alex |
