39757	2002-03-19 07:38:00	Hi I have lost my device drivers after installing the following Windows update: Intel Corporation - Storage After installing the update my system is no longer detecting my CD Rom and CD Writer drives. When I go into Start - Settings - System - Device Manager: it doesn't show up the CD Rom icon. Its like they don't exist. Under Hard Disk Controllers there were yellow exclamation points on 'Primary Ultra ATA controller' and 'Secondary Ultra ATA controller'. When I went into the properties of both of them it said the device is either not present or not working properly, or does not have drivers installed. Try upgrading the device drivers for this device. When I tried to upgrade it, it said that the best driver is already installed for this device. So I went to www.viaarena.com and downloaded the 4 in 1 drivers. However, when I went to install the drivers I had a registry error. After this the primary ultra ATA driver Intel, and secondary ultra ATA driver Intel were no longer there. Now all I have left is the Intel(R) 82801AA Bus Master Controller. Now I learn that if I hadn't tried to install the 4 in 1 drivers, I could have uninstalled the Windows Update. But now the Windows Update uninstall doesn't work because I've changed it by trying to download the 4 in 1s. Please help. Thanks in advance. Leanne	Guest (0)
39758	2002-03-19 08:38:00	had the same prob i while ago. for some werid reason windows update sometimes id's hardware incorrectly. make sure you have your motherboard drivers handy. via4-1 if it is a via chipset. boot into safe mode and remove the busmaster contoller/ata controler from device manager. reboot, reinstall motherboard drivers.
