39741 2002-03-19 06:12:00 I'm wanting to know is there a cheap program some where for pc security.
I'm wanting to stop my flat mate fiddling on my new $4000 computer.
I don't want to use the bootup password option in the bios setting.
I live in christchurch

Thanks for any help

39742 2002-03-19 06:30:00 The boot password in the BIOS gives a small amount of security. There is *no* software security if anyone has access to the system box, and can boot the system from a floppy.

The first level of security in 'secure' systems is the locked door.

Sorry about that.

Just pop out your ram chip(s), to stop it from booting up & just pop them back in when you want to switch her back on.
