39927 2002-03-21 04:39:00 All of a sudden; turn it on checks ram then (beeps) keyboard error press F1 to resume.
Then burrs like an old 486 Ram check.
Remove the keyboard and it stops burring, put it in and it burrs.

We have tried working keyboards but won't pass that point.

I opened it up looked for obvious possibilities. Re seated RAM, pulled the IDE channel out re pushed all connections.
It doesn't get to any loading so can't be software.
GA 72MM motherboard.
Any ideas?
Cheers.

The keyboard controller chip may have died or the connection.

I was going to suggest that you set the BIOS so it will run without a keyboard, then twigged that you need a keyboard to change the BIOS settings.

Have a good look at the keyboard plug, and the socket on the mother board. It's posssible to bend the pins (expecially on the PS/2 miniDIN connectors). I have seen a keyboard with no pins in its plug --- they had all been broken off.
