For Windows 98 SE computer.

Can someone help. I have a PDF file that I want to copy some text and a picture from but only have Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Althrough a friend I have access to Adobe Pagemaker 6.5.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a freeware file (and URL) that will allow me to copy from a PDF file to another application eg Microsoft Word.

I only want to go one way, I do not want to 'edit' the original.

Thanks.

40209 2002-03-23 10:04:00 A bit long winded, but if you install Ghostscript and Ghostview (free downloads - search Google for 'Ghostscript'), you can open a .pdf and extract the text. Guest (0)
40210 2002-03-23 10:06:00 It sort of depends on the content of the PDF.

For the text, try:

1. Ctrl+A in the PDF to select all, then copy and paste to Word.

2. Change the cursor to the 'text selection tool' (button with a capital T and a dotted square) and drag across the text you want, then cut and paste to Word.

For a picture, use the 'graphics select' tool and drag a square that encloses the object, then cut and paste.

However, if you want to copy then edit text inside a table or something, I think you will be out of luck.

Even if you had the full Acrobat product, the document would probably be protected from editing, for obvious reasons.

Cheers

40212 2002-03-25 08:38:00 Hi Peter,
Just a hint ~ make sure the PDF reader file is set at continuous view not page view before copying and pasting into word. I do it all the time for plane tickets sent via e mail in PDF format. Once it is into word you can do what you like with it. Sue.
