| 40175 | 2002-03-23 01:04:00 | For no reason at all that I know of, the green light is flicking on & off and the tray slides in & out. I have not been using the CD drive. It simply has started of its own accord. This is not the end of the world but it possible for me to knock the tray with my knee - an action I'd rather be without. Any ideas ? Thanx |

I had a similar problem --- a DVD was doing the in/out/in/out ad nauseum/infiniti while booting. I 'fixed' it by removing a SCSI card I had in the computer without any devices attached. In a word: '????!!!!'. You have my sympathy. Sorry I can't suggest anything, but checking for any programmes which might want a CD. Except that they should not do the in/out/... trick; they should ask for a CD if there isn't one. |

This was helped by turning off auto insert notification by going to device manager, selecting the CD-Rom and choosing properties. Probably wont help but wouldn't hurt to try. Good luck. Brett |
