40203 2002-03-23 06:56:00 Whenever I try to open a certain existing spreadsheet file an error message pops up with:
'Wksss has caused an error in WKSSS.EXE. Wksss will now close.'
It then suggests that I restart if the fault reoccurs.

I find that I can circumvent this by opening another spreadsheet first, and then the one I want.

I am running WindowsME with Works2000 v5.0

How can I get rid of this error once and for all.

40204 2002-03-23 13:50:00 Method 1.

1. After getting the thing successfully loaded, Export to a file, then close.

2. Import the file as a new spreadsheet, then save it..

3. Close Works, reopen Works, load the new spreadsheet and confirm that all is as it should be.

4. Locate and destroy the original offender whilst murmuring appropriate words.

Method 2

1. After getting the thing successfully loaded, Edit - Select All - Copy.

2. Open a new blank spreadsheet.

3. Edit - Paste. (Possibly 'Paste Special' - I don't have Works so I can't check.)

4. Save the new spreadsheet.

5. Close Works, reopen Works, load the new spreadsheet and confirm that all is as it should be.

6. Locate and destroy the original offender whilst murmuring appropriate words.
