| 40169 | 2002-03-22 16:07:00 | Long story but - upgraded to a new PC. Had been using Outlook Express on old PC but started using Outlook on new PC. Decided to move to OE on the new PC and also import address book/archived messages from old PC. Exported old OE files as dbx files and imported them into the OE folder under identities etc in new PC. Seemed to have partly worked (some but not all old messages turned up). But when I went to check Outlook, current messages had vanished (later found a new personal folder seemed to have been created and shortcut pointing at that - I can now change that back to the old one by using restore defaults, but it won't let me save new location when I exit). Tried to go back to where I was by restoring the OE folder which I'd copied before beginning debacle. But now OE won't start at all. Suggestions please (beyond not messing with what you don't understand) ! Can I just re-install both progs and import the relevant dbx files (for OE) and personal folders (for Outlook) ? Any good straightforward online guides to Outlook trouble-shooting out there ? Thanks, Ken. |

But you can import your old Outlook express contacts into your MSOutlook, and all that... and easy enough to configure It would also save a whole lot of hassle.. as for your emails, do it the old fashioned way. log your old computer onto the net, and email all your emails to yourself, but make sure you hit 'SEND ONLY' not send and receive. then on your new computer log onto the net and click receive |
