1294004 2012-08-11 00:07:00 tried it and quite liked it, might make the full switch one day. It is a pretty good out of the box distro gary67 (56)
1294005 2012-08-11 01:02:00 have used version 7 in the past and liked it, have not tested the current version yet. i think its up to 13 ronyville (10611)
1294006 2012-08-12 05:23:00 Seeing you have brought it up.
I thought I would try it out recently.
I was concidering putting it on my home theatre media centre but ran into problems.
It is a AMD Sempron 3100 with 2 GB ram, currently running XP Pro without any problems.
I tried Ubuntu 12.04, Linux Mint 13 & Lubuntu 12.04.
Same result with all.
System would freeze when I tried to change anything.
Even in the demo mode.
Curser would disappear & system would freeze.
Would then have to reboot.
Tried a variety of solutions with no difference.
Different ram
Different Hard Drive
Different DVD drive
Different ribbon cables
Different mice, USB & PS/2

I had made DVD's of all the distros & have since tried all on a 3rd system & they all go ok.
What I saw of the mint13 was excellent & it would be my choice of the three.

Would still like to get it on the media centre if anyone has any ideas.

1294007 2012-08-12 09:18:00 Probably some device you have has a driver that's buggy or something and is causing the lockup Agent_24 (57)

Very small (fits on my 2GB USB drive) version of XBMC. I have transferred the image to harddrive
Takes less than a minute to install and works perfectly on my AMD based system

By the way; am trialling Mint 13 with Cinnamon. Quite liking it
Few minor issues (based around the fact I have an AMD grafix card) but other than that all good

1294009 2012-08-12 21:31:00 I use it, have tried a *lot* of different distros, and it's always seemed to be the one I come back to in the last couple of years Chilling_Silence (9)
1294010 2012-08-12 23:47:00 I may look at the openelec.tv for the media centre but it won't boot from USB

I looked at Cinnamon & Mate. Would have to spend more time using them to choose.
Did either of you guys have any sucess networking with windows.

1294011 2012-08-13 00:15:00 I've tried the latest Ubuntu and Kubuntu and of the two liked Kubuntu better, would MINT be better for a relative Linux noob like myself?

I'm looking for a distro that will work well on a eeePC netbook with a 700Mhz celeron and 1GB of RAM
