1269159 2012-04-11 04:04:00 NO - the chipped cards are readable by a person just walking past you in a crowd with the correct RFD device. It's that bad!

We have the ARCO/AM-PM gas station and the Mobil 'Quik-Pay' system and they are being hacked constantly here.

Very dangerous and silently your account goes to zero because it's an open ended system.

Yep, looks like the latest ones used here was a small strip stuck above where the card is inserted not over the slot

1269160 2012-04-11 04:26:00 Does NZ actually use RFD? I didn't realize they were contact-less The Error Guy (14052)
1269161 2012-04-11 04:35:00 Not all sites ask for the CVV code when purchasing. So, kind of lame then.............. pctek (84)
1269162 2012-04-11 04:57:00 Does NZ actually use RFD? I didn't realize they were contact-lessMost of them aren't - we have a few POS terminals capable of interacting with such cards, but not many, and most cards issued in NZ also don't support it. The chip cards here generally require physical contact with the terminal. Erayd (23)
1269163 2012-04-11 05:39:00 The security code is so that you can prove that you actually have the physical card. So if somebody skimmed your cc details, they wouldn't be able to make a purchase where the code is required.
Fair enough. but if the card is stolen the security code is public. You don't have your Pin number on your cell phone, so why have it on your card? You can still have a security code but keep it in your head.

1269164 2012-04-11 06:06:00 Just for kicks - I use my birth weight as a PIN. Of course, it's not in sillimeters. SurferJoe46 (51)

It's a little 'fob-y' thingy that you can wear and wave AT the authorized area in front of the pump itself.

I've had my latest Visa "Paywave" card about 3 months now, and I've yet to find an Eftpos POS terminal that I can wave it at. Do they really exist?
