1293967 2012-08-10 23:52:00 Hi wainuitech.

Just paid for another year's sub and notice that there's a new version out. Can you please post your suggestions for setup like you did previously for v4.Or is there a previous post where you've done that?

Yeah, I know it's probably been out for a while now, but with Nod 32 it's more install and forget 'till I have to pay again !!
Thanks a lot, Neil.

1293968 2012-08-10 23:58:00 If you've got v4 already installed just install v5 over the top and it will transfer your settings to the new version. CYaBro (73)
1293969 2012-08-11 00:27:00 Thanks CYaBro, it's only that they say

" It is recommended that you uninstall your current version before installing the latest version".

Just found this on their site, so will give it a go.

"Important!

If you are installing ESET NOD32 Antivirus 5 over a previous version you will see the window below (see Figure 2-4). Make sure the check box next to Use current settings (recommended) is selected and click Next to continue."

Thanks again.I used to live in Wangarei before coming here.

1293970 2012-08-11 01:59:00 I have found that roughly 1 in 5 times I try to do an in-place upgrade of an eset product, it screws up. If I uninstall the old version first, it always works flawlessly. Greven (91)
1293971 2012-08-11 02:41:00 I have alway installed the new version over the top of the old one and have had no problems. But I guess an uninstall/install would ensure
you don't have any troubles. Perhaps I have been lucky!!

1293972 2012-08-11 02:55:00 Yeah I'm the same. Do a full uninstall then reinstall. It doesn't take long :) Chilling_Silence (9)
1293973 2012-08-11 05:12:00 If you've got v4 already installed just install v5 over the top and it will transfer your settings to the new version. Thats basically what I do as well. If it were V3 to V5 then I'd uninstall first.

Only time I have had any problems upgrading is possible beta versions. Tried V5 to the RC 6 on Windows 8 the other day and it didn't like it. But thats to be expected both being in testing stages. other than that only had 1 maybe 2 that have caused problems and that from over 50 + odd upgrades.

Worst it will usually do is say its failed and not upgrade it.

1293974 2012-08-11 07:00:00 Thanks all. Did an over-the-top install and it worked. Neil McC (178)
1293975 2012-08-11 07:15:00 What settings does everyone change? I tun on strict cleaning & advanced heuristics, turn off windows update warning & gamer mode Greven (91)
1293976 2012-08-11 09:16:00 Also set it to do an update every time the Computer starts, and every hour after that. Also set it to do weekly scans. wainuitech (129)
