1293728 2012-08-09 22:05:00 HI
I have several virtual centos servers running and occasionally vnc in to the gui to do work on them
the problem is every time i start the vnc service and log in there is heaps of terminal windows open that will not close (up to 15 now)
I have used google and there is heaps of answers say in to edit the xstartup script and comment out the line ( while true ; do xterm ; done ) & which fixes their problem but not mine
Once i comment out the line the vnc servers cannot be logged in to

Also i have the same problem on a stand alone server so it is not the virtual system

Linux gurus help please

1293731 2012-08-10 03:22:00 Try replacing that line with:
openbox

Or something to that effect. Make sure obviously that Openbox is installed, then you can use it as a window manager to right-click on the desktop and use the menu to launch new terminals amongst other things....
