40355 2002-03-25 01:20:00 Hi I am student and have been given an assignment to defend the motorola chip Vs the Intel/AMD chips, but I cannot find any sites that give a good comparison, or indeed any at all. So this is my last resort
thanxs in advance.

One strange and unusual approach to this task would be to carry out the terms of the assignment. :-)

That is, rather than copying someone else's opinions of which features were better, start by getting information (from books, the Web, elderly people who remember the Motorola..) about Motorola, Intel, Cyrix and AMD. Then look at the features of each and where they differ, decide for yourself which is better and why. Research that, as well.

When you've finished you should know something about the chips themselves and also get a better grade for your assignment than you would by... What's that? Why yes, I AM over 50. Why do you ask?
Oh, OK.
Here, try this for starters.

www.netvalley.com

And if you feel that you need something more...

www.google.com

Don't believe everything you read. Obviously Bill Gates would say things like:
'Let's not joke around: Pentium Pro processors have more performance than the RISC community is putting out. I'm not talking about price/performance; I'm talking about performance in the absolute.' (Bill Gates, 1996)

Hope you can pick a little bit of help out of that. Good luck with the assignment.

Cheers,
Alan Carpenter

40358 2002-03-25 11:57:00 You are being asked to compare Apples with IBM clones.
Universities can afford McApples and you will get Brownie points by showing how efficient the Motorola chips are.
Have a look around.
Good luck.
