40767 2002-03-28 12:07:00 I have a very frustrating problem in that a porno site has made itself my home page.

All attempts to change or reset it have failed.

I spent over an hour and a half on the phone with my ISP helpdesk and they had to admit defeat as well.

Short of reformatting my whole hard disk, does anyone have any ideas?

I am willing to try almost anything to get rid of it.

40768 2002-03-28 12:31:00 run msconfig, and check your start up tab thingy.. I suspect you will have an annoying extra progamme sitting there, changing your homepage back for you.

I got told of a page which will help you make sense of what you find in there, and decide if you really want/need it!

How have you explained the new start page to your wife and kids?

40769 2002-03-28 20:36:00 Not sure if this will work, but download RegClean (from www.downloads.com ) and run that. Remove anything with the name of the webpage(s) you are trying to get rid of. Please be careful when using. It has a backup facility but you can't be too overcautious when playing with registry. Also 'Adaware' is another must have programme (free from downloads.com) to get rid of spyware I can almost guarantee you will have.
Also might pay to check Dial up Networking (my computer>dial up networking) You should only have 'make new connection' and 'your ISP(s)' icons there. Anything else is a new 'dialer' created by Porn site. Just delete and also be scared about your next phone bill. There will be international calls to little known places around the African nations.
