| 40843 | 2002-03-29 06:05:00 | Running XP Pro,1900XP on MSI board,512Mb DDR ram.Yamaha CRW2200 CDRW. Building system so haven't added more yet.HD is master on 1st IDE,CDRW is master on 2nd. Problem. Recently the Yamaha has become very selective about which CDs it'll play. (Won't play PC World for example) It tries for a minute or 2, typical winding up noises then stops. The drive light remains on but if I then look in My Computer or Explorer it's missing. If I have MC open at the time it brings up a red !. Putting a known 'good' CD in at this stage doesn't work. Shut down MC and then re-open it and the drive has gone. Only way to get it back is to reboot. It is consistent, the same CDs play every time and the vice versa. Unfortunately the majority are in the second category. They all work on the faithful P90 with noname CD player. Thanks Barry |
