40785 2002-03-28 14:20:00 Have just picked up a pattern of IE5.5 problems immediately after my wife has been using MSN messenger and/or her Hotmail account?
As soon as I load the brower after these MSN programs have been opened - I get the usual 'performed an illegal action' type message - and have to reboot.
I know she has been accepting upgrades for both as they become available - where are I have not gone above ver5.5 in the brower - could it be some sort of imcompatibility here?
Thanks, Simon

40786 2002-03-28 23:52:00 Hello Simon.

My friend had the same problems with his computer crashing when using MSN Messenger and we found this very frustrating when trying to communicate. The solution we found was for him to go to the Windows Messenger site and download and then reinstall MSN Messenger again. If you're using Windows 9x then you can download here:

messenger.xtramsn.co.nz

If you are using windows XP the upgrade can be downloaded here:

messenger.xtramsn.co.nz

Hope this helps. John.

40787 2002-03-29 06:09:00 Hmmm, there's something fishy going on with MSN and Hotmail.

My darling daughter is a MSN and Hotmail addict and just lately the computer has been having registry problems after she's been using her account.

It comes up as 'Windows Registry Checker:
Windows encountered an error accessing the system registry.
Windows will restart and repair the system registry for you.'

I then Press OK and the computer restarts. After that the next message tells
me that a previous version of the Registry has been restored and I need to
restart the computer once again.

The reply that I've had from their help people suggests that they are stumped by it and have contacted their Big Guns to help. Hopefully they won't take long as The Girl is suffering withdrawal symptoms badly!
