40897 2002-03-29 23:46:00 I want to 'Sign the ... Guestbook' on a Genealogy website but I'm stopped by a 'Sorry, This feature requires a browser that supports the HTTP_REFER tag' message. Can you explain this message and my options with it? I'm have a P3/667MHz PC, using Win98SE, and IE5.5 Guest (0)
40898 2002-03-31 00:44:00 Hi. Websites have the ability to determine which web page you've come from, and this is useful for their site statistics. However you don't have to allow this piece of information being transmitted to the site, and good firewalls usually have the option to prevent it. In turn however, the web site has the option to dissallow a visitor from accessing the page if the refferer function is blocked.

I would guess that it may be your Internet security settings - I'm not very familiar with Internet Explorer as I avoid Microslop wherever I can - but you could try to change your settings to low, temporarily, or disable any firewall or other security softwareyou may have, to check.
