41335 2002-04-01 22:13:00 My PC annoyingly starts up every time with a BIG splash screen from MSN and an error screen-box saying 'to start msn setup you must run the file called msnstart not msnsetup'
It started doing this when I uninstalled MSN (that I don't think I use)
I've tried re-instaling it to no avail and it seems to be coming from a file called refreshi.exe (that doesn't like being deleted!)
any ideas anyone??

41336 2002-04-01 23:43:00 This happens when you turn on your computer and it starts up? Guest (0)
41337 2002-04-02 00:22:00 Yes, everytime I start up, it does it. Guest (0)
41338 2002-04-02 06:38:00 I maybe be way off but, do you mean msn splash screen pops up for that brief second or two just before your background wallpaper kicks in? If so would that be something to do with your desktop? ie right click desktop>properties or active desktop etc. Guest (0)
41339 2002-04-02 09:16:00 I wish it were just that. But no it's a totally black screen with a round MSN logo in the middle and on top of that is the error box with the start/setup message...I just click the 'OK' box within the error box and it and the black screen go away and I compute as normal! I just wish it didn't do it, it didn't do it before I tried to remove it!! Guest (0)
41340 2002-04-02 09:46:00 What happened when you followed the procedure I suggested above ? That should list EVERYTHING that starts when Win 98 loads, including things you wouldn't see in your startup folder like systray, volume icons etc.

41341 2002-04-02 10:07:00 The procedure you mentioned before takes me to the same place that typing msconfig into the run box in the start menu goes to and that's where I was looking, where systray, scanreg, tweakui etc are all listed about 12 items, none with MSN mentioned at all.. Guest (0)
