| 41413 | 2002-04-02 08:12:00 | I'm trying to hook up my comp to the tv, via the RCA out on the back of my Asus V3400 TNT video card into the AV in on the tv. I changed the settings in the 'display' tab of the asus settings menu to 'moniter and tv' as the output device. However all the tv shows is some rapidly flickering dark colored static, which doesn't seem to change color etc no matter what is being displayed on the moniter. The video type options (PAL, and PAL-M) don't change the output image to anything near what is showing on the moniter, just more static. Any help/ ideas? |

Took it back and the guy in the shop said and I quote' We couldn't get it to work either' ?? If you find a solution I would be interested to know how as I don't want toup grade my TV just to view DVD's on it. |

Just check these very basic things: The TV is set to AV mode. The RCA to RCA cable is ok for continuity. In the ASUS Display Control Panel check you have selected VGA+TV, or TV. If the above are ok maybe either the card or TV are wonky? I did find the drivers that came on the CD were out of date and Netmeeting video didnt work properly. For my set up I found these drivers from the ASUS site were best, 3400DRV.EXE, and LV3400V300.EXE I dont have a note of the release dates. Cheers |

| 41416 | 2002-04-02 23:15:00 | check if the card will auto swap from svideo to composite(rca) output. some do some don't. if it dosn't you will need to make a modified lead. i'll have to do a search to find the web page. its basicly a 470pf capacitor on pin 4 which is then connected to pin 3 which goes to the centre core of the rca cable. pin 2 is ground(the braid of the rca cable) while pin1 is not connected. looking straight at the svideo plug pin 1 is bottom left, 2 is bottom right, 3 is top left and 4 is top right. hope that helps. |
