41886 2002-04-04 21:09:00 Hi
I have a problem sending mail with Norton AV outgoing mail scanning enabled. This problem is obviously well known as the following appears on the Symantec website.

'Error: 'Norton AntiVirus was unable to send your email message because the connection to your email server was disconnected'

Situation:
Norton AntiVirus 2002 (NAV) is installed, and Email Scanning is enabled. When you attempt to send email, you see the message 'Norton AntiVirus was unable to send your email message because the connection to your email server was disconnected.'

Solution:
This problem was fixed by the latest program update. To install the update, run LiveUpdate, download the program update, and then restart the computer when prompted.
The problem is that the suggested fix does not work. I`ve tried re-installing Norton but no luck. Using version8.07.17c on W98se.
Incoming mail scanning OK.
Others must have had this problem Any remedies?

41887 2002-04-04 21:37:00 I don't have 2002 on this machine but off memory, there is a option to disable outgoing mail isn't there?. If so try doing that. Guest (0)
41888 2002-04-04 21:40:00 At this god forsaken hour of the night I am not that awake........but I get a better connection all things being equal......

What I meant when I said disable was to disable the outgoing mail scan.

41889 2002-04-04 23:33:00 Hi

I got no problem with NAV 2002's outgoing mail scanning.

I works sweet!

I suggest you uninstall NAV and clean up your registry first before re-installing your NAV. Then, download the updates.

Good Luck

41890 2002-04-05 21:30:00 Thanks Gordon & bk T.
No luck with any of the suggestions. I`m resigned to using Nortons with outgoing scanning switched off. Thanks anyway.
