| 41802 | 2002-04-04 10:14:00 | I installed XP Pro Upg over Win 98(original) as I could not do a 'clean' install. When I ran the CD I got 'This program can not be run in DOS mode'(or similar) The program installed OK,installing my modem and DeskJet printer, but not my scanner. My problem is that XP frequently locks up, especially when using Explorer, Search, Display Properties,etc. Ctrl/Alt/Delete will almost always clear the lock up, back to desktop. No problems with Internet Explorer or Outlook Express. My setup is an AMD K6-2-450 processer, Gigabyte m/b with 1998 AMI Bios (Recently flashed),4 meg graphics board. I have downloaded and installed the XP upgrade files. Is there a fix for this problem without an expensive upgrade? Thanks. |
