| 42128 | 2002-04-05 23:44:00 | I run system monitor continually as I find it provides useful information on performance. Lately kernel processor usage shows it is running at 100% after the computer has been left idle for 15 minutes or so. The only way to bring the usage back to normal levels is to restart. What the hell is causing kernel usage to suddenly increase to such an unneccessary extent??? |

| 42130 | 2002-04-06 03:51:00 | I am using windows ME. I have no programs running. The problem occurs with just explorer and system tray running. I suspect your suggestion concerning the cooler could be right. Perhaps there is some routine that starts in periods of low activity and the comp is getting locked into it. I did read somewhere that you can alter things like that in the bios. I have not changed anything there tho, the comp just suddenly started doing this of its own acord.
