42088 2002-04-05 13:07:00 Once again my printer ink cartridges have run out for my HP deskjet 710C, I run my printer on Eco Fast, so it just goes that little bit further, I also, when I am printing off something big or something that uses up lots of ink, or unimportant stuff, I send it through to work and print it off there (I hope my boss it not reading this!).

But my Cartridges have run out, I only use black Cartridges because the colour ones are so deal!!!! (Even the blacks are really!).

However I have tried everything trying to safe money when purchasing Cartridges, I have tried refilling them, never come out that good, or leaks in your printer, and then costs even more.

So after all of this dose anyone know a place in New Zealand to buy Cartridges cheap, or a online New Zealand shop??, or do I just need to fork out the usual large amount?

Also how can the companies justify the massive amount they charge for a little bit of link and a cheap plastic container, what is the large cost of manufacturing this product??

The HP cartridges are dear because the printhead is part of them.

42090 2002-04-05 16:24:00 Morning,

There are a few NZ web sites that sell printer consumables.

Heres a few

and 'www.acquire.co.nz/acquire/dept.asp?dept_id=190'

42091 2002-04-05 22:56:00 Part of the reason for the expense of the cartridges is the profit margin compared to printers. Everyone? has a printer, they are cheap to encourage you to buy them and the profit margin is slim if at all. BUT, the catch is, like petrol in your car, you need to buy ink and that is where the stores make there profits, not just in ink but other items like photographic paper etc.
As a comparsion for costs to make vs retail cost, a mass produced epson cartridge such as the 440 or 640 costs less than $2NZ which includes packaging, the cartridge and ink, shipping etc and still returns a profit to Epson and then you buy it in Noel Leemings for say $50-70+.
Of course I don't know what Noel Leemings might pay Epson to buy in but which ever way you look at this picture, the profit margin for both is very good.

42092 2002-04-06 03:31:00 Try www.inkjet.co.nz --- Christchurch company. Price of 51645A black cartridge $20, same for C1823A.

A bit cheaper than HP.

At least with HP you do get a new printhead; others just have *very* expensive ink.
