1294773 2012-08-14 12:03:00 CPU: Intel Q9550 with stock heatsink & fan

Just performed a Max heat stress test (using passmark) for this system with the following results:

CPU: 37.5C ~ 59.0C
GPU: 46.0C ~48.0C

Acceptable results?

1294774 2012-08-14 13:09:00 Yup anything sub 60 for the CPU is fine in my book. 59 is probably a tad hot if there isn't an overclock though it's not a big deal. icow (15313)

This is when I say that our old p4 based system was hitting 60 with little or no usage? Compressed air was needed :)

59 is still a little too hot even when the CPU is stressed to 100%?

1294777 2012-08-14 23:42:00 Those temps are very acceptable with a stock heatsink. I would say good even. You've got no worries. wratterus (105)
1294778 2012-08-14 23:51:00 It's not unusual for some processors on stock cooling to go into the 70's when stress tested, 59 is pretty good.
My i5 overclocked to 4.1Ghz gets to the high 60's when stress tested using a low end closed loop water cooler and I'm not worried about that at all.

Anything under 70 is ok, under 60 is good. Temps don't get dangerous until above 80 and many CPUs won't shut down until they hit 99 or 100. Of course lower is always better.

1294779 2012-08-15 00:12:00 The design thermal limit for the Q9550 is ~71*C iirc, so 59 under load is fine. inphinity (7274)
1294780 2012-08-15 10:36:00 HIGHLY recommend hyper 212 evo cpu cooler, you can pick them up for about $30 and my i52500k at 4.3ghz stays at a solid 40 when stress testing. ofcourse havign godo airflow also helps. Slankydudl (16687)

No not really. You could reapply the thermal paste if you wanted too (only if you are using the stuff that comes with the stock cooler or haven't reapplied in a long time, otherwise there isn't much point) and you will probably take 5+ degrees off.
