1294511 2012-08-13 17:50:00 I bought a Visio TV with all the apps with 3D so why would I need a Blu Ray that has all the apps and 3d which would be redundant? I would like a good Blu Ray but I don't want to spend $200 so does anyone have any suggestions? lostsoul62 (16011)
1294512 2012-08-13 20:53:00 I'm sure I saw noel leemings advertising an LG BD player for about $80 - but it could have just been a DVD Im not sure. psycik (12851)

1294515 2012-08-13 23:55:00 Well, a bluray will play DVD's as well. For a basic bluray I'd go with a basic panasonic, so it should be around $120 Nick G (16709)
1294516 2012-08-14 00:29:00 I dont think a 'basic' bluray player will do 3D though will it? Iantech (16386)

No, it wont. Something like this (www.harveynorman.co.nz) maybe?

1294518 2012-08-14 04:36:00 What do you mean by "all the apps" ? I'm not sure I follow that.

If you want to watch 3D you need both a TV that can receive and display 3D and a Blu-ray player that can decode and send the 3D to the TV, and of course a 3D copy of the movie on Blu-Ray. If you don't care about 3D then any Blu-ray player will do, unless you want to use BD-Live in which case you need one that supports that and it will need an internet connection.

I replaced my panasonic Blu-ray with a PS3 (it's currently on the floor under the coffee table while I decide what to do with it). And I must say I'm not sure it was a wise investment. So far I haven't bothered playing games, I don't care about 3D, and I could care less about BD-Live features. It does start up much faster than my old player at least, which took more than a minute.

1294519 2012-08-14 06:01:00 And I think you need a 1.4a HDMI cable. If you want to see 3D Speedy Gonzales (78)
