1271491 2012-04-23 22:31:00 I have gotten my share of tickets over the years but this is my first parking ticket.

Can you really be ticketed for facing the wrong way in a park on a kerb?

1271495 2012-04-23 22:55:00 Why would you park facing the wrong way anyway? When it comes time to leave and during the parking in the first place you must be driving on the wrong side of the road. Turning around beyond your capabilities? dugimodo (138)
1271496 2012-04-23 23:21:00 I was driving down the road ready to pull into my drive way and there was a park right outside the house.
This is very rare in my street so I saved it for Jenn to park in as she arrives home later, I just changed my angle and pulled into the park rather than the driveway.
I meant to swap the cars over later but never got around to it.

1271498 2012-04-23 23:34:00 Thats a bit of bad luck, found a parking warden trying to get his tally up I think.

I got the same in Dunedin many years ago, something like $10, I refused to pay for it as there were no signs saying which way I could or couldnt park. Dn Council wouldnt wear it, took it to court and they added $50 to it, I still refused to pay, 3 months later they took it to court again, went up another $100. It was up to $160 and I had already left Dn by this time. About 3 yrs later I went into the court to pay it and get it sorted out and the guy looked it up and said it had gone back to court about 3 weeks earlier and the Judge had squashed it and to get out fast as I owed them nothing. :D

I dont recommend you do the same though lol.

From the NZTA web site. These parking rules are written for a reason. Apparently a wrong facing vehicle can cause confusion to motorists.

1271500 2012-04-24 00:21:00 It can cause confusion at night time when your headlight beams strike the headlight reflectors of the wrong facing car and blind you and cause you to crash into something.
