1271060 2012-04-21 08:36:00 I've connected my new Panasonic 42" led tv to my laptop via D-sub 15-pin connectors.
After some fiddling all I get on the tv is a blue screen.
There are no detailed instructions with either my laptop or the tv apart from mentioning the specific connectors.
Any suggestions?

1271061 2012-04-21 09:49:00 Did you change it to the VGA / PC input channel? The info should be in the manual somewhere. Whats the model of the TV? Or depending on the brand / model of the laptop video go into its settings. You may have to select some option to activate the VGA output Speedy Gonzales (78)

Could be right. I found that my laptop picked up the TV (Samsung) as a secondary screen

I had to alter the settings for the audio though. Cant remember what I did there?

Then experiment with output to laptop/monitor settings.
