1294498 2012-08-13 10:23:00 Can somebody help here?

My wife has bought a new computer and somehow whenever she opens up a PDF attachment the screen opens but the text comes up all gobbledeegook - a mixture of random numbers and letters and symbols instead of text.

I have uninstalled the Adobe Reader program twice and reinstalled the download twice but it still doesn't work.

Can anyone help?

1294499 2012-08-13 10:59:00 I suspect you are using Microsoft for email and its a configuration issue. What are you using and what version Ofthesea (14129)
1294500 2012-08-13 22:42:00 Have you tried it with another pdf program, such as sumatra, nitro, or foxit? Nick G (16709)

That may well be so, but is Adobe Reader actually opening pdf files ?

It sounds as though some other program is the default. Right click on the pdf and select 'open with' and choose the reader and then see what happens.

1294503 2012-08-14 11:24:00 When I right click it doesn't have 'open with' just 'open' or 'save as' etc. I'm using Windows Live Mail on Windows 7 squidworth (16354)
1294504 2012-08-14 13:42:00 Try saving the file on your computer somewheres. Then open Acrobat reader from the programmes menu and open the file from the Acrobat "file" menu.
You may also have a font issue. If the file is opening in Acrobat but not readable it may be that the PDF was created without the font embedded and the font that was used in it's creation is not on your computer.
