1270858 2012-04-19 05:48:00 Clients could feel guilt free as they actually have not had sex with a real person and would not have to lie to their partner
Sooo... if someone beats up or kills a robotic prositute for whatever reason they cant get done for assult/murder then?
And will this spell the end for pimps and minders or will pimps and minders have to do a polytech course and become robotic prositute maintenance technicians :D .

Actually, I think those two Victoria University researchers need to get a real job, their job must be pretty boring if thats all they can come up with.

1270859 2012-04-19 06:44:00 They should be dutifully researching future robots for the NZ industry and their employment/economic effects, rather then trying to visualize a stepford wives (www.imdb.com) fantasy club erotica scenario. kahawai chaser (3545)
1270860 2012-04-19 07:23:00 So the "pill" or other forms of contraceptive could be replaced with an electronic antivirus -- bet they would use Nortons - it already screws people over now , so it would be logical the users in the future get the same deal :D  wainuitech (129)
1270861 2012-04-19 07:40:00 What the f*(k is VUW doing? They have no idea what the world will be like in 2050 and it sounds like they just sat down and said "Lets write something about sex robots!!! AND GET PAID TO DO IT!!!".

Utter bull$*^t.

1270862 2012-04-19 20:05:00 Well, it can be a mistake to underestimate the march of technology. THey've already found that women are happy to idle away the hours talking to a robotic (computerised) listener over the phone, even when they know the umms and ahh's they're hearing in response to their gossip is coming from a soul-less computer.
I'm very thankful in that respect that men are very different from women.

However, lets not forget that disturbing trend for some men to collect and almost worship their life-size, lifelike 'dolls', where they take photos with them, dress them up, have dates with them and good grief who knows what else. THis robotic hooker is not a big leap from what is already happening with some groups.

On the other hand though, there's a definite need for other functions from such a robot, like cleaning itself and making the bed. Maybe it can be programmed with a gossip mode, a nag mode, a cold shoulder mode and a drain-the-credit-card mode to complete the experience.

They can make a male robot for the ladies which sits on the couch all day and channel surfs, promising to get to doing task X "in a minute" for the whole day.
Add a loud belch mode and fart mode and it's complete.
Actually, it needds to be devoid of a self cleaning mode and then it will be complete.

Got plenty of them in real life, not sure why we want robotic ones as well, although it would be helpful having an OFF button :D
