42231 2002-04-06 10:14:00 Thinking of putting another 256MB of 144-pin SDRAM PC100 RAM in my 1-yr old [Compaq Presario 14XL447] laptop. I have seen it advertised for $197 +GST. Is that good? Should I avoid 'bargains' and go for name brands or does it all come out of the same factory in Taiwan anyway?

Or should I wait and get it in Aussie - I am going to Melbourne for a week in July.

Try $150.00 incl GST at Tastech for 256MB 144 pin sdram. Be carefull with listed ram prices, they can change without notice.

Check out < www.pricespy.co.nz >

As above you need to confirm the price.

This might well mean that you have to pay a premium, especially since most ram makers are now making DDR.
