| 42207 | 2002-04-06 06:40:00 | Hi there - I hope someone can offer a suggestion here... I connected a second hard drive to see whether it was operating (out of a power surged PC). Anyway - no luck with the hard drive. So I unplugged it, and re-booted. The PC says now that windows has found new hardware and is looking for a driver. It says that it's found a PCI Multimedia Device. I didn't load a driver (didn't know exactly what the device was) and headed to the System/Devices area in control panel, which has a yellow question mark next to 'Other Devices' - PCI Multimedia Device. My soundcard and graphics card all operate correctly and are listed. I disabled the mystery item and there seem to be no ill effects, but I am stumped where it came from. I didn't add any new cards, or even remove and replace any existing cards when I was mucking about with the hard drive. Help! J. |

I am uncertain why Windows would detect it unless it didn't install the sound card itself and was manually installed can sometimes confuse windows. |
