| 42493 | 2002-04-07 23:40:00 | I have a computer with ME already installed, and want to replace the ME with Win 98 upgrade (not the SE version). The 98 upgrade works fine with Win 95 or Windows for Workgroups as qualifying products, but seems to be unhappy with ME and doesn't really do anything. I'm not sure if there is a hardware problem, or if it's because the ME I have is not an acceptable qualifying product for the Win 98 upgrade CD. Does anyone have any similar experience, or ideas? |

Windows will not usually allow you to install a older version of something and this is what you are trying to do here, going backwards from ME to 98. You would usually get a error message stating that the OS you are trying to install is older than what is already on the system and that the setup has been disabled...or something to that affect. You don't mention why you want to replace ME with 98, end of the day thats your choice of course, is there a problem with winME on your system, maybe someone here can help you with it. |
